Proactively communicate and educate clients on all governance matters of interest· Own and manage client corporate governance and proxy research needs
· Monitor and ensure client satisfaction
· Actively work with clients to help them to update, develop or formulate their proxy voting guidelines
· Identify opportunities to enhance the department's service offerings
· Complete basic and advanced analytical governance research of particular shareholder meetings and companies
· Distill financial and corporate governance information and issue proxy vote recommendations based on client specific policy guidelines
· Answer internal/external client/issuer queries on research reports and/or custom recommendations, able to discuss policy issues in informed detail
· Complete client-specific projects (analyze data, perform high-level and granular comparison reports, etc.)
· Research policy related issues and support team lead in their completion of such projects
· Specialized understanding of shareholder/corporate governance issues gathered through fundamental research and contact with company executives and/or institutional investors.
· Use expertise to provide support to sales team with the development and administration of customized proxy voting guidelines that effectively manage current and/or prospective clients’ portfolio holdings
· Complete SAS-70 obligations
· Identify process improvement opportunities
· Work with Corporate Technology to develop, enhance and test current and new applications that will benefit our clients, research team and the company as a whole
· Actively contribute to ISS policy formulation and update efforts
· Provide assistance to the team lead or director on projects/tasks as required from time to time
· Produce timely and high-quality client research and deliverables
Requirements
· Bachelors degree in Business, Finance or Accounting (MBA, JD or Masters Degree preferred)
· Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience
· Exhibit a passion for the corporate governance space
· Possess proven abilities to develop strong working relationships with external clients
· Possess and exhibit insight, enthusiasm and innovation for high-level client engagement
· Ability to work effectively with colleagues at various staff and management levels across function lines
· Excellent writing and research abilities; strong attention to detail and proofreading skills; and well-developed communication skills, both oral and written
· Strong organizational and presentation skills
· Familiarity with public company filings (SEC and equivalent filings internationally)
· Competency in corporate governance issues such as executive compensation, corporate transactions and capital markets
· Strong understanding of business technology; experience working with technology in an operational context strongly desired
· Strong computer literacy with previous experience and excellent knowledge of MS Office
