Manage OnStar Global Projects and Programs as required

  • Apply and comply Systems Development Process (SDP-21) process in Development and Deployment Projects
  • Participate in OnStar Systems Development Factory (SDF)
  • Very strong understanding of Global Application Development
  • Manage Project Financials
  • Manage Projects Portfolio
  • Manage suppliers activities including transition and new deployments
  • Handles a variety of recurring and non-recurring or special assignments
  • Informs staff activity or unit of developments as required
  • Makes presentations to all levels of management
  • Develops new and evaluates existing unit or Corporate policies and procedures
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
  • Frequent contact with other outside the work group
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures in a specialized area
  • Gathers and interprets complex data
  • Handles a variety of non-recurring special assignments
  • Assists in developing solutions to unusual and difficult problems
  • Keeps supervision informed of developments as needed
  • Prepares presentations
  • Functions in an advisory capacity to outlying facilities or divisions, generally in a specialized area

  • Basic Skills Required
  • Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information, Technology, Management Information Technology, System Engineering, Computer System Engineering, or Equivalent IT Related Degree
  • Software development and minimum 7 years of Project Management experience 
  • Experience with billing, accounting and general ledger systems
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to understand technical issues and also handle business implications
  • Must have successfully lead a minimum of two complex, global, multi-vendor IT projects with responsibility for development and deployment
  • Must have experience managing project budgets
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
  • Knowledge of COTS computer software installation and maintenance
  • Capable of handling multiple diverse and complex assignments concurrently
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Elicit requirements/support elicitation of requirements using a variety of elicitation techniques to articulate the system capabilities
  • Analyze requirements to derive necessary and identify implicit requirements
  • Manage requirements to ensure that scope is consistent with stated needs and that project deliverables remain synchronized as a result of agreed changes
  • Knowledge of the techniques for managing cross-functional teams
  • Organizing - ability to marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, use resources effectively and efficiently
  • Critical Thinking - Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; excellent analytical capability
  • Planning - Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks
  • Business Acumen - Understands how business work; is aware of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace
