Summary of Job Description:
The International Engineer will have responsibility for proactively searching the global supply chain network (with strong focus on international business) to identify cost, optimization, and process improvement opportunities. Analyze the results and organize in a clear and concise manner, present to executive management (internal and external), and then work with various stake holders to implement the solution. Specific responsibilities related to this position are:
· Research and analyze global transportation and supply chain cost saving opportunities utilizing data maintained in various databases within account scope.
· Research and understand both Global and Domestic (US) transportation rates and trends.
· Understand Freight Forwarders and Domestic transportation providers, strengths and weaknesses of providers to better optimize the customers supply chain.
· Strong knowledge with U.S. Customs processes, US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, as well as Duties/VAT rules and developing projects to drive improvements within customers supply chain.
· Strong understanding of rate structures as it pertains to air freight and ocean (including fcl and lcl).
· Strong presentation skills. Ability to present to executive management and to the client, and articulate abstract concepts clearly and concisely.
· Strong project management skills; ability to obtain results while being sensitive to the needs of the client, and to Menlo operations. Utilize effective project management tools to communicate project deliverables and activities.
· Develop an understanding of customer processes to enhance cross-functional initiatives and effectively communicate/integrate improvements.
· Be proficient to an advanced level functionality of MS Access, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and MS Project
· Research root cause of issues, recommend improvements in existing processes, and implement action plans to correct deficiencies.
· Coordinate and facilitate design discussions between multiple functional groups within Menlo, the customer, Carriers, and other external partners.
· Ability to travel to customer or supplier locations to review business needs and proactively develop further cost saving and service improvement opportunities. Regions include, but are not limited to: Mexico, South & Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Europe. Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills to effectively handle multiple priorities with short deadlines.
· Develop and maintain credible, productive, and professional working partnership with assigned customers, suppliers, and carriers.
· Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a wide degree of creativity and resourcefulness.
· Strong sense of initiative and self management; minimal supervision required.
· Familiar with Lean tools, processes, and practices such as A3s, Value Stream Mapping, and facilitating continuous improvement activities.
