Assistant Underwriting Manager - Salisbury  [16/03/2010]


 


  • To research and make recommendations to develop efficient and profitable underwriting philosophy and processes for UK and/or International business, as applicable.
  • To identify and develop the use of underwriting related technology including further development of the rule-sets of the Magnum expert underwriting system.
  • To provide technical underwriting support to all underwriters and deal with underwriting queries from a variety of external sources.
  • To develop, analyse and maintain management information and identify and produce recommendations on changes to the Underwriting proposition from the results of analysis of the information.
  • To identify the relevant underwriting aspects of new product and sales initiatives and define how the underwriting process or philosophy needs to be extended or amended to accommodate these, subject to approval by Underwriting Strategy Manager.
  • To provide underwriting sign-off for protection literature including in particular taking responsibility for the application forms.
  • To assist in maintaining New Business systems as required.
  • To develop and deliver underwriting training as required.
  • To do sufficient operational underwriting with Unlimited Authority to maintain confidence and accreditation.
  • To provide advice to claims assessors on past and present underwriting practices, particularly in relation to non-disclosure.
  • To keep up to date and comply with legislation/industry guidelines and Codes of Practice including the ABI Code on Confidentiality and Genetics.

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent).
