This position is to manage and maintain standard GSK network services and the physical network infrastructure to support business processes and service level requirements. Provide 2nd/3rd -level technical support for the GSK network infrastructure. Perform technical Lead on Complex tasks for small to medium projects.
• Serve as technical lead on both Business and Network Services tasks and projects, which include resource management (project team), coordination, financial planning, documentation and deployment of network services. These projects include any that provide new or enhanced network support, management facilities, or services that are critical to the strategic initiatives of GSK and to its overall business operation.
• Ensure GSK standard Network solutions to business problems are implemented to ensure that the network infrastructure and services adequately and efficiently address these requirements.
• Has experience in prioritising and coordinating multiple tasks with minimal management involvement.
• Must be able to authoritatively represent Network Services on Business teams or projects.
• Assist with the development of standards and procedures for the department.
• Work with Engineering to evaluate and engineer new networking components or technologies if requested.
• Develop and deliver oral and written presentations as required for SCS personnel
• Provide formal status and activity reports to senior management
• Provide training and assistance to junior staff members.
• Effective presentations to any SCS group, and is competent in presenting ideas to any relevant forum.
• Communicates proactively with supervisor and colleagues, highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
Technical University degree in related position with at least 5 years experience or significant equivalent experience in multi-vendor networking
• Expert knowledge of networking technologies and equipment. Specifically: LAN,WAN, DWDM, IPT, Wifi, RAS,VPN, internetworking, Switches, routers, Ethernet, SNMP, TCP/IP.
• Experience managing & maintaining network equipment and services globally
• Has lead or has experience in matrix teams across network services and with individuals in other departments.
• Make decisions and provides recommendations based on broad departmental guidelines
• Communicates proactively with management and colleagues, highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
• Has the ability to manage teams across Network Services.
• Manages complex problems/tasks across multiple business units to successful completion
• Extends the application of known or existing solutions beyond those currently used.
• Is recognised at departmental level as an expert in specific scientific or technical area(s), with demonstrated record of achievement, and shows evidence of developing knowledge in another relevant specialist area.
• Has experience in prioritising and co-ordinating multiple tasks with minimal management involvement
Knowledge of Telephony is of benefit. Experience in working with telecommunications carries and service providers
