A unique opportunity has arisen for a Computing graduate to work on a joint project, under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, between UCAS and University of the West of England which aims to introduce new IT systems and development methodologies into UCAS to support increasing demand for its services. Employed by UWE but based full time at UCAS, you will work closely with the Information Services team, under the supervision of academic staff from UWE's Department of Computer Science. Your role will be to lead the definition and implementation of a technical strategy and to support the design, development and integration of new software components to rationalise and enhance UCAS systems. KTP is one of Europe's leading graduate recruitment programmes, offering the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience on specific projects of strategic importance whilst benefitting from generous Training and Development opportunities, including the chance to undertake the Diploma in Management and a higher degree. The ideal candidate will have a good degree or postgraduate qualification in Computer Science or related discipline, and some experience, through project or work experience, of developing new software systems. You'll be able to demonstrate that you can work on your own initiative and can communicate effectively, particularly to people unfamiliar with the jargon. Work experience in a commercial environment would be advantageous, but above all a committed and proactive approach will be essential.
