FUNCTION
- Provide Legal Advice to organization.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working closely with the Head of Legal Services and general management. You will provide practical legal advice in a broad range of issues, focusing mainly on contracts, corporate governance, risk management and employment related issues.
TASKS
- Lead negotiations and draft commercial contracts.
- Ensure that agreements and practices are compliant with the company’s commercial standards and policies.
- Develop and maintain good corporate governance practice within the organization and support external subsidiaries with legal requests.
- Develop In-House trainings for members of the organization on Legal Issues.
- Provide responsive, quality work to all clients, ensuring that Legal Services becomes involved in a timely manner in all appropriate matters so as to effectively identify and address areas of risk to the business.
- Contract management duties such as: ensuring contract database is complete, providing clients with pro-forma agreements, guiding clients on use of acceptable negotiating positions and validation of client-negotiated agreements.
- Facilitate external trainings to Fairtrade stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary:
· Law school graduate & Bar member or eligibility.
· Fluent in English.
· Excellent communication skills, team player, flexible, experience in dealing with different cultures.
· Strong dedication towards customer service.
· Excellent communication skills and facility in cross-cultural communication.
· Excellent written and verbal communication is essential together with the ability to deal with culturally diverse internal and external customers.
· Team player with the ability to manage their own workload independently, as well as having efficient time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure with varied workloads.
· Motivation for Fairtrade.
Advantageous:
· An understanding of risk assessment and ability to take a creative and flexible approach to the business.
· Fluent in another European language written and spoken.
· Work experience as In-House Counsel working in an International Organization.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Job Share: 100%.
- Position is based in the FLO-CERT Office in Bonn, Germany.
- Start date: January 2009
- The office language is English.
- Salary is paid according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement Category (Tarifvertrag Groß- und Außenhandel, Nordrhein-Westfalen), Salary Range VI a plus an attractive benefits package.
- 30 days of holidays.

Company Description:
The concept of fair trade has been around for over 40 years according to FINE but a formal labelling scheme didnt get off the ground until the late 1980s. 1988: launch of the first Fairtrade label, Max Havelaar, under the initiative of the Dutch development agency Solidaridad. The first Fairtrade coffee from Mexico was sold into Dutch supermarkets. It was branded "Max Havelaar," after a fictional Dutch character who opposed the exploitation of coffee pickers in Dutch colonies.
