Job Description:


The primary function of this position is to act as the liaison between Underwriting and the Brokerage General Agency, Wholesaler or other business units, providing status updates on pending applications.

The incumbent will perform

  • administrative functions of New Business application through the underwriting process while adhering to Company and regulatory guidelines, prioritizing workflow based upon published guidelines and determining which requirements require risk evalution.

    Specific responsibilities of this position include:
  • complete initial case review by reviewing the formal application, posting requirements for unanswered questions on the application, and adding administrative requirements that do not post through the data entry process;
  • print notes and appopriate documents from the informal file;
  • document and track applications not in good order;
  • review subsequent mail for completeness;
  • route risk assessment requirements to underwriter;
  • process administrative requirements in the administrative system; prepare Trust template for Advanced Market review; process underwriting final decisions;
  • add amendments and issue instruction messages composing correspondence to client;
  • order Inspection Reports, Motor Vehicle Reports and obtain labs performed for other companies;
  • in-tray management, including the underwriter's electronic in-basket;
  • review and dispose of cases;
  • establish and manage effective working relationships with General Agency and staff;
  • manage customer service requests and provide technical and administrative suport to customers meeting established service level agreement of 4 hours;
  • proactively handle follow up calls on pending business every 5 days with the Brokerage General Agency, with some contact with Exam or APS vendors;
  • document the New Business database and Underwriting system on result of follow up.

    Job Requirements:


  • This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. A college degree is preferred.

    Other requirements include:
  • one or more years of experience in Case Management or other customer service experience;
  • thorough knowledge of the underwriting process;
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • excellent customer service and relationship management skills, and telephone etiquette;
  • demonstrated patience and the ability to diffuse irate callers with tact and diplomacy;
  • ability to convey understanding and a sence of urgency;
  • strong ogranization and time management skills,
    including follow up and follow through; strong sence of urgency;
  • strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • strong 10-key/typing skills; self-starter; ability to work independently with little supervision while contributing as a team member;
  • reliable.
