Area Officer Orkney - 37 Hours Location: Kirkwall Salary: £19,338 Contract: Fixed Term until 29th October 2010, with the possibility of extension You will implement and deliver a range of SNH functions within Orkney, with particular responsibilities in Rousay, Shapinsay, West Mainland (part), East Mainland and South Ronaldsay. You will provide advice on the implications to the natural heritage from development including aquaculture and other developments and contribute to the work of the Northern Isles Area team as a whole. A relevant qualification in an environmental discipline such as ecology, agriculture, geography, planning etc. or practical experience of environmental or countryside management is essential as is a full, clean driving license or the ability to find an alternative method of transport. An understanding of the procedures and legislation applying to designated sites, especially SSSI and Natura would be beneficial.
