There are three main underwriting parts of the Group. Hiscox Global Markets, Hiscox UK and Europe, and Hiscox International:
• Hiscox Global Markets underwrites mainly internationally traded business in the London market – generally large or complex business which needs to be shared with other insurers or needs the international licences of Lloyd’s
• Hiscox International includes operations in Bermuda and Guernsey and Hiscox USA.
• Hiscox UK and Hiscox Europe offers a range of specialist insurance for professionals and business customers, as well as high net worth individuals.

The Role
The role will assist in the underwriting management of the London Professions book which has a focus on insuring companies who operate in the service industry. You will take individual case referrals from junior underwriters, carry out detailed analysis of account performance and identify new lines of business. You will write individual cases and build relationships with brokers.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive development of the Professions account and customer base within the London team
• Underwrite London PSC business
• Identify and drive new business opportunities
• Provide a point of excellence for senior brokers in London
• Deal with complex technical referrals
• Carry out portfolio analysis making recommendations for improvement when necessary
• Lead and guide more junior underwriters
• Develop a book of profitable new business with a minimum GWP of £2M Person Specification
• Although a 2:1 degree is preferable, this is not a pre-requisite for an experienced underwriter
• 5 years + underwriting experience
• Existing strong relationships in the London market would be advantageous
• ACII qualification or progression towards qualification
• Demonstrable drive, self motivation and enthusiasm to achieve results
• Clear ability to think on your feet and make intelligent, innovative business decisions
• Good influencing and leadership skills
• Team player
• Outgoing and confident
• Strong analytical skills
