The Team
The Group change functions reports into the Group Special Projects Manager who is responsible for the implementation of group projects. These projects include those that affect the group functions and projects which span across multiple business functions. This role will report into the Group Special Projects Manager and will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects on the strategic Projects plan.

The Role
This newly formed role has been set up to provide a clear focus on all User Acceptance  testing for all change initiatives delivered by the Group Change team.

This role will be responsible for putting in place a best practice UAT process. Change team use an established Project Management methodology; it will be the responsibility of the User Acceptance Manager to develop the UAT process against the different phases of that methodology to include activities and deliverables for the UAT Manager at each of the Project Phases

The person will need to work closely with all of our business function areas across the Group depending on the individual projects being delivered.  You will also need to work closely with the IT function systems test manager and systems test team to deliver an end to end test process.

The main focus for 2010 will be two large projects, the first is the delivery of a enterprise data warehouse and the second the first phase of the Reinsurance system replacement project.

The role will be based in our Colchester office with regular travel (2 to 3 days a week) to our London office at Great St Helens, off Bishopsgate

Key Responsibilities
• Be the main testing authority within the Group Business Change team and provide guidance on all relevant areas of testing.
• Evaluates, maintains and improves testing processes, roles and responsibilities within the end to end project development life-cycle. This includes testing of small changes and business as usual changes.
• Evaluates the future UAT requirements at Hiscox and implements a resourcing plan to meet those needs, considering both in house and external solutions.
• Puts in place testing metrics and measurements for the consistency and quality of the UAT function.
• Responsible for developing detailed test plans in conjunction with the Business analysts and the business testers.
• Responsible for all tests, test tools development and configuration management activities – especially as we drive towards more rapid change approaches.
• Identifies areas for improved testing efficiencies, test automation and facilitates implementation of automated test scripts.

Person Specification

Ideally, you will
• Graduate (or graduate calibre) in a relevant discipline
• Possesses a broad knowledge of all testing events throughout the development lifecycle.
• Exposure to testing MI solutions would be advantageous.
• MS Office tools, Mercury Quality Centre/Load Runner/Win Runner/Test Bench or other similar tools - understanding including navigation between functional areas within the tool. Ability to pull MI data from testing tools for effective stakeholder reporting.
• Has well honed interpersonal and communication skills and is able to deal directly with clients/users.
• Ability to read and comprehend business requirements and high level design deliverables well enough to commission detailed test cases. Ability to map test cases to business requirements.
• A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow things through. Takes a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to testing and problem management.
• Good prioritisation and time management – excellent organisation skills.
• Experience of managing supplier agreements and external teams.
• Ability to work to agreed deadlines in a matrix management environment.
