Respiratory Therapist - Westfield  [15/02/2010]

Duties:

1. Administers pharmacologic, diagnostic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitation, or a diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician.

2. Observes and monitors signs and symptoms, general behavior, general physical response to respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing, to determine whether abnormal characteristics are exhibited.

3. In collaboration with the healthcare team, develops and implements an appropriate care plan based on patient assessment by utilizing respiratory protocols and or standards of care to optimize patient outcomes.

4. Promotes continuous learning and expands expertise by engaging in and seeking opportunities to develop self and others as a member of a self directed team.

5. Works efficiently as a team member both within and across clinical settings to provide quality service to hospital units through communication, cooperation and collaboration.

6. Demonstrates competence, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patient needs in a specialty area.

7. Orders and maintains appropriate equipment and supplies to ensure ability to provide patient services.

8. Performs appropriate performance improvement activities as requires by policy or standards of practice.

9. Performs related duties as required.



Qualifications:

Minimum Entrance Requirements: None.

Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Board of Respiratory Care.

Preferred Qualifications:

A.S. Degree in Respiratory Care from an AMA approved program.

This is a Civil Service position.

Must be Massachusetts CPR Adult Certified.

MA. License in Respiratory Care, must hold CRT credential, and must be registry eligible.
