Position Summary:
Area oversight responsibility for the occupational health, safety, and loss control management systems in our Georgia based facilities, in alignment with the Oldcastle Precast national platform. Work actively with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure safety and health goals are communicated and achieved through individual as well as team based objectives and strategies. Work with the Regional Market Area Management team to ensure implementation and continuous improvement of safety and health processes and systems consistent with Oldcastle policies and performance standards, as well as compliance with applicable regulations. Serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and develop an innovative and proactive safety culture within each organization. The Area Safety Manager will provide strong leadership in safety and health within the Oldcastle Precast system. Duties and responsibilities will include:

Provide expertise for local management regarding safety and health issues and applicable regulations.
Advise and assist local management in implementing, managing, and auditing within the framework of an innovative Health and Safety Management Systems in a manufacturing and construction setting.
Be an action figure in shifting our safety culture from rules and regulatory compliance to a safety culture developed as a behavior driven value at all levels of the organization.
Ensure site management, and site safety program owners are adequately trained for the performance of their tasks.
Work with Group Director of Safety and Health to identify specific training needs within the organization.
Provide oversight expertise for incident investigations, development of corrective plans and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
Lead worker’s compensation case management and return to work with local management and insurance carriers.
Ensure timely reporting and claims management for workers compensation, general liability and automotive liability.
Share lessons learned (incident investigations) and best practices with the regional and product line personnel.
Coordinate health and Industrial Hygiene monitoring with risk management insurance provider.
Analyze and effectively identify and communicate trends in product line incident/injury data to evaluate current programs and work toward continuous improvement in those areas.
Make a strong contribution as a team player and promote active leadership for safety and health initiatives.
Develop and maintain a positive and constructive relationship with local management and plant teams, as well as applicable regulatory agencies (MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc).
Work with VP of Corporate Social Responsibility Group and East Group Safety Director in determining strategic national initiatives and developing policies/procedures.
Proven ability to work with product line management and plant/site employees on implementation of Health and Safety Management Systems, processes, and training.
Coordinate with local management team on needs assessment based employee training.
