Quality Control Lead position provides supervision over the inspection and testing of materials such as sand, gravel, aggregates, and hot mix asphalt following pre-defined criteria established by WSDOT Standard Specifications or other agency and published specifics, this position is also required to physically run tests on a daily basis Coordinates with crusher and asphalt plant operations for quality control, quality assurance of all materials produced including developing and maintaining records for material stockpile averages and making corrections as needed Provides guidance to plant operators on quality control issues and tests the products being produced to ensure highest quality and immediate adjustments/inputs are made Responsible for the evaluation of mix designs for all asphalt mixes through coordination with agencies and testing facilities including resolving any technical issues Coordinates direct density testing on designated projects Maintains all records and data for nuclear licensing Manages and directs the work of the Quality Control Technicians Knowledge of WSDOT standard specifications, ASTM and AASHTO standards and test procedures Math competency to Algebra level Five or more years experience in quality assurance Bachelor of Science or equivalent education experience in related field preferred. Advanced laboratory certifications in aggregate, asphalt and concrete production are highly desirable Strong verbal and written communication skills Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with management, team members, vendors and internal and external customers Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Demonstrated ability to safely plan and set work priorities in a cost-effective manner Ability to travel to as needed
