The National Laboratory Service operates a comprehensive quality management system to ensure compliance with ISO 17025. The maintenance and continual improvement of this system is imperative to provide confidence to our customers that the service provided is of a very high standard and will remain that way.

To enable all laboratories to comply with the quality management system an opportunity has arisen for a SHEQ System Specialist to be appointed at our Leeds laboratory. This is a challenging role that will involve interaction with laboratory staff at all levels.

Within the role you will be required to maintain all aspects of the quality management system and some maintenance of the Environmental Management and Health & Safety systems to ensure that they are fully implemented throughout the laboratory. This will include audit systems, document control, training records, routine quality control and continual improvement of methodologies and procedures.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good understanding of quality assurance and quality control techniques used within a laboratory and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will need to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be expected to deliver outcomes and perform audits to deadlines and maintain the quality audit program. Demonstrating strong influence upon others and ensuring that the excellent reputation of the SHEQ service is maintained.
