About the Role

• Carry out inspections with respect to structural integrity issues as part of the Directorate's work plan.
• Assess safety cases drawing conclusions as to the adequacy of the case itself and recommendations for future inspection topics.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints as part of a team or alone.
• Provide support for enforcement action, including the preparation of technical reports, and provision of expert evidence in legal proceedings.
• Provide expert advice on health and safety matters associated with the specialist topic of structural integrity within HSE, Industry and other stakeholders.
• Make technical and strategic contributions to HSE's overall strategy.

Person Requirements

• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
• A Chartered Engineer having corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Substantial post graduate experience.
• A good working knowledge of the application of your discipline skill to the offshore industry sector.
• Experience of design, construction, and integrity management for fixed and floating installations.
• Familiarity with relevant offshore standards
• Experience of the assessment of integrity and response to fire and explosion, impact, extreme weather, and foundation behaviour.
• Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management tools.
• You must be able to satisfy the UK offshore medical & survival training requirements.
