BAE Systems is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Linguists to fill a number of permanent full time, part time and short term contract roles. Linguists at BAE Systems are employed in a variety of roles and with various customers within Australia and around the world. To meet the needs of upcoming work with our numerous customers around Australia and overseas, expressions of interest from individuals with experience in Pashtu, Dari, Farsi, Arabic, Somali, Khmer, Sinhala or Mandarin languages are now sought.

Applicants of native or near native proficiency are encouraged to express interest in this upcoming work.

We are also seeking applications for current fixed term vacancies within our Canberra based team.  Linguists with Asian languages are keenly sought for these roles.

Ideal applicants for all positions will possess an appropriate qualification such as a NAATI accreditation, a university degree or an Armed Forces qualification or applicable experience coupled with an ability to interpret, translate and transcribe from both written and oral material. A good understanding of the cultural background and sensitivities of the applicable language is also required along with an appreciation of regional and international events and an ability to deal efficiently with people from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

To ensure success, applicants will also need strong analytical and interpretative abilities, well developed word processing abilities (Microsoft Office suite), the ability to work under pressure in a high tempo environment with minimal supervision and well developed communication skills.

Additionally, to meet security requirements, all applicants for current and upcoming work must be Australian citizens with a minimum of 10 years residency in Australia. All applicants will be required to undergo security vetting and relevant skills assessments. Applicants with current security clearance will be well regarded.
