Communications Centre operator [24/11/2009]

Here at Welwyn Hatfield, our Communication Centre provides an emergency service to around 3000 households, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and you will be joining a busy team to provide emergency support to the elderly, sick and disabled residents in our community.
You will offer reassurance, assess situations and ensure that the appropriate services and personnel attend the scene of the emergency. Outside of office hours, you will also be the first point of contact for all Council emergencies including repairs.
With experience of working in a pressurised environment, you will be able to deal calmly and tactfully with all kinds of calls and will be sensitive to the needs of the callers and have a genuine interest in their well-being.
Working a shift pattern that covers 24 hours a day. 365 days a year, you must also be able to cover overtime shifts, often at short notice. You will be required to work any of the following shifts:
8am – 4pm
4pm – 11 pm
11pm – 8.00am
