The department Manufacturing Process Development (MPD) is part of the Innovation Chain of Philips Consumer Lifestyle Drachten. Within this department ±25 persons are working across three functional groups (Forming / Finishing / New Technologies & Architecture). These groups are responsible for the industrial Pre-development of the shaver processes. Our customer is the supply chain in Drachten that is producing shavers for the whole world. The internship vacancy concerns the Forming group.

The focus of MPD is mainly on collecting proof of the feasibility and capability of new or adapted processes. This proof is needed before industrialization projects can be started and major investments are to be done.

Your Responsibilities:
Background Assignment:
You will be part of a regular project team that is focusing on predevelopment and industrialization of coldforming and hardening processes for new caps and cutters. Different project teams exist with different assignments. For example; new steel developments including process interactions or Accuracy improvement of cutters to enable improved shaving functions. The goal of the internship is to contribute to the development and industrialization of new shavers.

Assignment:
The exact assignment for you will be formulated in the project team by the lead engineer. An assignment can be for example to investigate the influence of a new steel type on the accuracy of a shaver cutter. The shaving components have very tight tolerances (micron range), thus measuring technology, spread analyses and spread investigations are a very common practice and statistic methods and tools shall be used extensively by you.

The internship concerns a practical work placement and is not suitable for a final graduation assignment.

Duration:
4-5 months. We do prefer candidates who can start as soon as possible.

Your Profile:
Skills Required:
• You are currently studying towards a Bachelor/Master 3th or 4th year student with one or more qualifications: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Materials Science, Industrial Sciences or a similar education.

To be successful in this internship you:
• Have affinity with process development and manufacturing technology.
• Like practical work and show interest in industrial statistics.
• Are a confident team player and are able to work independently on project tasks.
• Are fluent in oral and written English
