the Prison administration is maintained at target levels to allow the prison to deliver the Prison Service aims, objectives and principles, in particular we are working towards increasing out overall performance rating .
- Develop and maintain effective and efficient administrative and office systems, including recording and filing systems
- Maintain accurate records, process documentation, analyse data/produce reports as required
- Communication by telephone, fax, email and letter, providing a courteous and helpful service
- Liaison with Prison Service personnel/outside agencies as appropriate
- Support other team members in maintaining continuity of service delivery
- Ensure compliance with all Prison Service Orders so correct procedures are followed for the area in which you are employed

Work Life Balance
The Prison Service is keen to encourage alternative working arrangements. Work life balance provides greater opportunities for staff to work more flexibly wherever managers can accommodate requests to do so.
Flexible working hours
The Prison Service offers a flexible working system for certain grades.
All Prison Officers and those working in regulated activity will be subject to the provisions of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. This seeks to ensure those who are deemed unsuitable from working with children and vulnerable adults are prevented from working in particular work settings or undertaking work of a specified nature. Barred individuals who seek to undertake work with vulnerable groups will be subject to criminal penalties.
Annual Leave
On entry most posts offer between 22 days and 25 days per year, with senior posts attracting an annual leave allowance of 30 days on entry. On top of this you will also receive public and privilege holidays. Leave for part-time and job share posts will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Pension

The Prison Service is committed to staff development and offers an extensive range of training and development opportunities.
Season ticket advance
After two months service you will be eligible to apply for a season ticket advance to purchase a quarterly, or longer period season ticket for travel between home and office.
Childcare vouchers
The Prison Service offers a childcare vouchers scheme. The scheme enables staff to take part of their salary in the form of Childcare Vouchers. This is known as a Salary Sacrifice. The vouchers can then be used to help meet the costs of any form of registered or approved childcare for children aged 0-16. The vouchers are exempt from tax and National Insurance contributions.
