POSITION SUMMARYThe Reliability Engineer is responsible for the continuing development of a Reliability awareness culture throughout the Petroleum organisation, reducing the tolerance for failure, increasing equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs. He will achieve this by developing, implementing and continually improving systems and processes to assess, monitor and improve equipment reliability across the PU’s. These systems will include Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) analysis and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). He will set standards and provide measures to evaluate the effectiveness of PU’s maintenance and reliability engineering strategies going forward and provide support to the PU’s to make improvements as required. ACCOUNTABILITIES- Support development/refinement of Reliability Based Maintenance strategies for the Petroleum Production Units to ensure a consistent approach across the PU’s. Drive Reliability Engineering principles and best working practices across the PU’s.
- Develop and implement system for collation of PU RCA data to facilitate communication of learnings across the PU’s, and monitoring the quality of RCA processes within the PU’s. Develop KPI’s for RCA and RCA action close-out performance across the PU’s and publish tracking reports.
- Facilitate the tracking and monitoring of the reliability of critical equipment across the PU’s. Identify opportunities for improvements and communicate to the PU Engineering Teams.
- Participate in Shutdown challenge and Shutdown review processes.
- Review PU’s Condition Based Maintenance and Condition Monitoring strategies. Identify opportunities for improving Condition Based Maintenance strategies within the PU’s and support these developments to implementation and continuous improvement.
- Support PU’s in strategy definition and contract negotiation of Healthcare Contracts.
- Develop spares holding and asset cataloguing strategies to be adopted across the PU’s.
- Provide technical support to all reliability specialists and discipline engineers within the PU’s on repairs, maintenance improvements, troubleshooting problems and equipment reliability issues.
- Instigate audits to check implementation and compliance of all relevant systems and procedures in accordance with PU and BHBP guidelines.
KEY DIMENSIONS- Strategic view and ability to use recognised tools; SAP, RBI, FMECA, RCA, CBM, SIL in support of continuous improvement to achieve maximum facilities uptime at lowest unit cost. Provide support for the PU’s in the implementation and management of said systems.
- Training and mentoring role for PU Reliability Engineers and Maintenance & Operations personnel for reliability related issues.
- Develop measures and report against key KPI’s to demonstrate reliability across the PU’s.
- Represent BHPBilliton Petroleum in recognised Reliability Engineering Industry Peer Groups

EXPERIENCE Strong technical knowledge of Reliability Engineering, RCA, FMECA,SIL, CBM and CM techniques - Minimum 10 years relevant experience with minimum 2 year in a Reliability Engineering role.

- Languages: English
QUALIFICATIONS- Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline.
- Preferably Professional/Chartered engineer or actively working towards Professional/Chartered status.
