Position Description
JOB PURPOSE
• The Manager of Online Merchandising will perform all merchandising for US and Canadian E-Commerce websites, developing and communicating strategic merchandise plans that meet the merchandising, marketing, and financial objectives of thebodyshop-usa.com.  In particular, the Merchandising Manager will be responsible for managing the business’ average transaction size, units per transaction, and gross profit.

Primary Responsibilities
• Develop the creative brief for each scheduled promotional event, selecting featured products for the site and setting messaging strategy as to how to communicate the benefits of products to customers online.
• Work closely with Production and Creative Teams to ensure that product and promotional messaging are clearly and consistently conveyed through website creative.
• Provide Web Production with updated event briefs, value offer SKU lists, new product categorization, and subcategory rankings for each event.
• Conduct ongoing analyses to improve E-Commerce performance using Web Analytics (e.g., free shipping, gift with purchase); own analysis on SKU performance, sell-through, and selection.
• Liaise with the Commercial team to communicate E-Commerce business strategies and trends as well as event plans to ensure optimal inventory levels; coordinate resolution of out-of-stock issues.
• Optimize Onsite Search and Product Recommendations using 3rd party tools
• Work with Creative team to develop content/landing pages to help merchandise product and increase customer engagement with our website.

Other Responsibilities
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Responsible for maintaining the ethical standards of The Body Shop including minimizing the environmental, health and safety risks in the workplace.  Report potential risks, near misses and real accidents to relevant managers.

Experience:
• Individual must be organized, professional and self-motivated.
• Prior Online Merchandising experience is required.
• Familiarity with Coremetrics or similar web analytics tool required.
• Experience developing a creative brief and working with a creative team preferred.
• Experience with ATG recommendations and Omniture Onsite Search preferred.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES – (Job Qualifications/Experience) –
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in consumer online retailing.
• Well-versed in online merchandising techniques and tools; traditional (offline) merchandising experience also helpful.
• Experienced in using analytics tools to understand customer behavior and respond with merchandising activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and managerial skills.
