A position has arisen within EADS Astrium in Portsmouth. A Senior Satellite Ground Systems Engineer is required to manage the Galileo Ground Control Segment AIV (Assembly, Integration and Verification) team. The team is currently deployed to site and undertaking the ground segment integration and verification in preparation for live satellite operations.

This is a central role on a project deploying the ground control segment for a very high profile satellite constellation. The role requires a strong technical focus combined with the ability to lead a team.

The ability to assimilate the big picture and liaise technically at all levels is central to this role as is an understanding of the lifecycle of space mission projects and the ability to interface with customers, industrial team partners and sub-contractors.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following:

- Overall responsibility for the execution of Test Campaigns;
- Coordination of the test team for test runs;
- Technical leading and contribution to the development of test cases;
- Organisation of the configuration of the applications/network if necessary;
- Overall responsibility for the raising of anomaly reports;
- Supporting Non-Conformance Review Boards;
- Chairing of Test Readiness Review meetings for the Test Campaigns;
- Reporting to the AIV Manager;
- Responsible for update and maintenance of test procedures, test data and tools;
- Support supplier and site manager with new installations of element s/w or h/w.

As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

- Degree in relevant subject;
- Knowledge of ground segment applications, formal test methods;
- Understanding of spacecraft operational concepts;
- Unix/Linux;
- Significant experience of ground segment deployment and operations;
- Telelogic DOORS, Software development experience;
- Experience of ESOC infrastructure applications: SCOS0-2000, SIMSAT
